Hand Carved Shell Perfume/Snuff/Trinket Box

Here's a lovely little decorative item. Not really sure of its original purpose. It may have been meant to be a perfume container, snuff box, or trinket box. Either way, it's intriguing. Made from a mussel shell and carved by hand, it has a small silver metal stamped lid with a turquoise-colored cabochon center. The lid is highly decorated and is held shut by a simple hinge.
